The Second Wave Has Come
This
past week of January the Sci-Fi Channel has started to replay one of
the best science fiction series that has ever graced the network's
timeslots, First Wave. The show is about an alien race that is hell
bent on conquering earth and subjicating its inhabitants. The hero,
Cade Foster, is a petty thief that went to prison and after being
released saw his wife murdered by one of these aliens. The aliens
take human form so you cannot tell who is alien and who is not. One
of the corny ideas is that salt can kill the aliens. Seeing this
murderous act and being wanted by the police for the murder of his
wife, Cade Foster, goes out in search of the truth. Along the way
Cade meets the author of an online mag called the Paranoid Times,
Eddie, and they help each other out along the way. The goal of the
series is for Cade to stop the second wave, and save the destruction
of our planet. The series started in the beginning of 2000 and ended
about the middle of 2001. The show was enjoyable at the beginning,
but near the end when the producers brought in that ex-porn star
chick, the show went downhill.

"Shenmue II"
The story of Ryo Hazuki continues in this excellent sequel to Shenmue on the Dreamcast. In this chapter of Ryo's story, he finds his way to Hong Kong and begins the search for his father's killer, Lan Di. The game makes use of newfound advances in the Dreamcast hardware; more people on screen, faster load time, and even more realistic graphics. Shenmue II has a wide variety of people to talk with. Unlike the first Shenmue you will most likely not be able to talk with each person in the game, because there are so many people. The game also boasts a large variety of mini-games to pass the time; street fighting, lucky hit, crate moving, After Burner 2, and some others. This game will transport you from your couch in America to Ryo in Hong Kong. Shenmue II portrays Hong Kong very realisticly from the hawker of chickens to the dilapitated apartment buildings. The story of Shenmue II is its strongest point. Along the way you will meet new and interesting friends and develop character depth, not only in you, but in the other players as well. This game is excellent and can only be purchased as an import unless you wait for the XBOX release.
