Logan's Run(ning) Straight to my Heart

Over the past week I purchased the dvd of Logan's Run. The video had a few extras in it; for example, theatrical trailor, commentary, and a behind the scenes documentary. Of course I just wanted to buy the best movie Michael York ever made the other stuff is just icing on the cake. After I purchase that for the hefty sum for $9 I return back to the homestead to view this cinematic masterpiece. I pop Logan's Run into the PSX2 and wait for it to boot up. Not wanting to jump right into the movie I decide on watching the documentary. Before I go any further I need to ask you one question. Do you remember those nature filmstrips your 3rd grade teacher would always show the class? Well if you do, this is one of them. It is some narrator talking about life in the 23rd century and lamenting about the special effects. Intertwined within this learning tool about the future there are quick clips and soundbites of Jenny Agutter and Michael York. And of course Michael makes sure to tell you that he took the role because of the marvelous story. Yeah right Mike! We all know you took that role because you got to say the line, "First let's take off our clothes or we're bound to freeze!". This documentary is hilarious pre-star wars 1970s pulp. The other option on the disc that I checked out was the commentary by the director, Michael York, and the costume designer(?why him?). This has its good parts like when the director says that technology in 1976 was limited before that "big" movie of 1977 came out. That one year I guess had a lot of scientific achiements. Another good line is said by the costume designer, "I wanted them (people) to all be nude..". He would have done it, too, but on screen it was very appealing. The story itself is still very good and is an excellent film to this day. This is a testament to all the hard work put in by the people that created the film. One curious thing I noticed while watching the movie again, I saw only white people. There were absolutely no other races included in this utopian society that I could see.
